In the exposition of the short story “Three Skeleton Key” written by George G. Toudouze, In this summary the men are trying to escape the rats, the rats are coming for the men to eat them since they have been starving. The men run into the light house were the rats can not get them and make sure everything is closed. the rats start scratching the windows, they freak out but they know they cant get them. The men start to tease the rats, then one man says, "Turn off the lamp" to make sure they cant see us, next the rats actually get in but the strange part is they cant attack them. They start running somewhere else downstairs, they hear the rats coming. One man see's a rat get in and starts to freak out running, another man kneels and starts to sob, the last man is yelling to the other two with bravery in his voice trying to escape and not give up. The men get out of the light house and starts to run and see's some rats outside but they keep on going with no hesitation, only saying a few words possibly. They run down rocks, they have had no food or water for the past few days already, sitting there on the rocks alone..and only with each other left. In there sight they see their broken boat still there from where the rats attacked it and took over. In concluding sentence the men are just left there with no help in sight, just praying to get out of here in time before there fate comes, this is my part of the summary of the story.
