Storyboard Text

  • Mathilde throws the paper because she does not want to go to the party because people will think she's poor.
  • "Here is something for you."
  • She's mad because she has nothing to wear to the party.
  • "And what do you suppose I am to wear at such an affair? "
  • "Yes of course."
  • Mathilde visits her friend Madame Forrester to borrow jewelry for the party.
  • "Could you lend me this just alone?"
  • "All the men stared at her, inquired her name and asked to be introduced to her. "
  • She was the prettiest woman present, elegant, graceful, smiling, and quite above herself with happiness.
  • She's in the bedroom talking to her husband upset because she lost the necklace that she thought was real diamonds.
  • "I . . . I . . . I've no longer got Madame Forestier's necklace. . . ."
  • Mathilde sees Madame Forrester walking down the street 10 years later. She tells her that she lost the necklace and finds out it was fake.
  • "Yes, I've had some hard times since I saw you last; and many sorrows . . . and all on your account."
