During the 1900 refrigeration was invented
and bananas companies became a monopoly in Guatemala
UFC(united fruit company) became so powerful and took over the Guatemala government
while in control of the government they created horrible labor practices
UFC controlled most aspects of life for people and almost everyone worked on plantations
The entire country was funded by bananas
Eventually a new president was elected and began cracking down on the labor practices

The UFC got the US to help take back Guatemala
The Guatemalan Government fought back and won the fight
