Storyboard Text

  • Did you know that there are 3 components to the cell theory?
  • No I didn't what are they?
  • The first component is that all organisms are composed of one or more cells.
  • Second, is that the cell is the basic unit of structure and function.
  • Lastly, all cells come from preexisting cells.
  • Wow, thanks. That will come in handy when I learn that in a few years.
  • For example, Minnie is composed of one or more cells. Theodore Schwann, a German scientist, discovered this in 1838.
  • Really??
  • Ok, lets do it.
  • Lets adventure to the outdoors so I can show you another example related to the cell theory.
  • Do you see those flowers over there?
  • They are also composed of one or more cells. Like animals this was also discovered by another scientist. His name is Matthias Schleiden, and he discovered plants were made of cells in 1838.
  • Yes, what about them?
  • The last thing, before I go, thats important is how Rudolph Virchow (another German scientist) was the one who stated that cells come from other cells. If you remember I told you that was one of the componets to the cell theory.
  • Thank you so much for teaching me all this new information! I would be lost if it wasn't for you.
