The Hitchhiker Comic Strip

Goodbye, Mother. I'll be back. I'll be on the coast for only three months.
My name is Ronald Adams. I'm on Route 66 west of Gallup, New Mexico and I think I'm going insane. I must tell this quickly before my time runs out. 6 days ago, I said goodbye to my mother in Brooklyn to head to California.
Goodbye, Son. Good luck to you. I do hate to see you go. Be careful.
I was in perfect spirits and the drive ahead of me, even with the loneliness creeping in, seemed like a carefree adventure. All was well until I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge that morning.....
....and I saw a man leaning against the cables. I didn't think much of it at that time, and I wouldn't have remembered him if it weren't for the fact that I saw him an hour later.
It wasn't until the third time I saw him that he hailed me. As soon as I heard him call out to me in a spooky voice, I stepped on the gas and then didn't stop until I made it next to gas station.
As the mechanic at the gas station filled up my car, he mentioned how nice the weather was and how there hasn't been any rain all week. With the strange man in mind, I asked the mechanic about hitchhikers. Strangely he said that no hitchhikers stop by there...
Again, I didn't think much of it - I thought it was sheer coincidence. At least, until I saw him again. It was while I was driving through peaceful Ohio fields and the road suddenly ended in a detour. There, standing in front of the barrier, was the hitchhiker.
