Republicans vs. Federalists
Alexander Hamilton was the first treasurer of the United States of America. The United States was in extreme debt, Alexander Hamilton proposed that a National Bank be created to provide stability for the economy.
In order to pay back its debts, the United States placed taxes on whisky. In Western Pennsylvania a protest to end this tax arose. George Washington would not tolerate this so he sent the militia to end the protest.
Alien and Sedition Acts
The people formed political parties because they disagreed when interpreting the constitution. For instance, Federalists favored the National Bank but Republicans thought it was unconstitutional.
After the French Revolution tensions between America and France grew because America did not help the French. To end the argument America sent three representatives but France tried to bribe them.
