The Narrator introduces himself as Montressor. Also, he states that he seeks revenge on Fortunado.
Montresor, our narrator, believes that Fortunato has "inflicted a thousand insults," upon him. It is because of these "insults", are the reason that Montresor begins to plot his revenge. But Montresor keeps it a secret acting normal.
Montresor brings fortunate to his catacombs to taste his Amontillado, an expensive type of wine. During this time Fortunato is slightly intoxicated and not completely aware of his surroundings.
Montresor walls Fortunato up in a niche in the wall of the catacombs. Fortunato's drunkenness is beginning to wear off, and he realizes Montresor's intent.
when Fortunato stops screaming, and Montresor only hears the jingling of the bells on his costume when he throws his torch into the catacombs. Montresor also is finishing sealing the wall he is making in front of Fortunato, so one finds him.
When Montresor finishes the wall hes building. So that no one can find Fortunato again.
