Storyboard Text

  •  Ethos 
  • "When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"(King).
  • Pathos 
  • "We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities" (King).
  • Logos 
  • "Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice" (King).
  •  Ethos 
  • This is an example of Ethos since the king used the Constitution as proof that all men are equal. He said that the Constitution was sign for all men to be equal and have the same rights. King persuade us by using real life example to make his argument stronger.
  • Pathos 
  • This is an example of pathos because it makes you feel sad and guilty that abuse is happening. King was saying how blacks can never be satisfied as long as they are being abused and treated wrong. It makes you feel sorry for them and wish you could do something for them.
  • WHITES ONLY
  • Logos 
  • This is an example of logos since King used Abraham Lincoln saying. Five score years ago was like how Lincoln said in his speech as well. He used math when he said "score" since it means 10 years.,
  • 
  • This is an example of Ethos because King is using his kids as example for what he wants. When King brought his kids into his argument he was using them as an example to why there needs to be equality. He doesnt want his kids to suffer like he did which persuades us more.
  • "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" (King).
  • "We can never be satisfied as long as our chlidren are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating 'For Whites Only'"(King).
  • This is an example of pathos since it makes the King more aggressive and makes you feel how serious he is. He is yelling and making his claim stronger by using his voice. It touches your heart strings by how passionate he is.
  • "I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal'" (King).
  • This is an example of logos because the King saying that he has a dream that is the American dream. He is using logic behind the American dream. He is saying that what he wants would be hard but maybe achievable. The American dream is what everyone wants but King makes it seem touchable.
