Judge Danforth, I have a confession proving that the accusations made of witchcraft are indeed false
WHAT! Abigail Williams, what does John Proctor mean by this?
Your honor, I did not agree to thin confession! John Proctor forced me to come here!
What! NO! that is not what I meant. I was referring to a confession I wanted to give to you in a courtroom
Enough with this outrageousness! Both of you, come inside! I want to hear both sides of this situation before I make a final ruling!
This new ending would occur if the conversation between John Proctor and Abigail Williams ended where John confesses to his adultery sooner. This would have a bigger effect on the story as the number of people accused during the trails would dwindle because Proctor's confession would prove more impactful to dismiss Abigail from the case. Even though Proctor will have to face charges of his own, at least his life will no longer be in so much danger than it was at the end of the book.
