Hello class, today we will learn about comic strips. Lets open our book: "Alexander Hamilton: The Graphic Novel".
Okay, so to summarize. This graphic novel was a historical piece that summarized the life of Alexander Hamilton and his experiences. It was written by Jonathan Hennessey in 2017. It brings the life and adventures of Hamilton to life by showing various first hand accounts and experiences.
I choose this book because it shows you guys the various ways to interact with texts. I know some of you do not like to read chapter books. So this is a way to get more of you excited to read. I thought that this book was a much more interesting way to engage with the book in comparison to reading historical novel. I will write this link on the board in case you want to buy it: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/ alexander-hamilton-jonathan-hennessey/ 1125138720
A feature of this text that I want you guys to try out with your own writing is the graphic novel structure. We can use this book as an example of the structure. Some mentor texts that we can use are most of the superhero books. How about we all follow this prompt to write your own graphic novel: it is 1940 during World War 2. This is a vague prompt so that you can be as creative as you'd like. Make sure to make it historically accurate like Alexander's story was.
