Nooo! My fish sticks, gone forever!! I need to get a fishnet...
I'm Hungry! Mmmm, Clownfish.
Clownfish have one special ability, which other fish do not. "What can they do?" You may ask. The answer- They can swim into sea anemone without getting stung. They are the Electro of the Oceans.
Clownfish have evolved a very special feature. Their bodies are surrounded by mucus, which absorbs and protects the Clownfish from anemone shocks. Sharks and other predators do not have this ability, so they are stuck without their luxury Fillet of Clown.
Oh, poo... GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD
The Clownfish can swim into the anemone for shelter and food, while the anemone can get protection from the Clownfish. It's a win-win for both!
If they didn't evolve their shell of mucus, the first scene of Finding Nemo would become a reality!
There are many other useful traits aquatic animals have. For example, the octopus can camouflage itself, much like the Chameleon. However, it can't run forever. Predators don't go by sight alone when hunting their food.
Found you! Dinner, word of advice- Next time, don't move so much.
Next time you see these funny fishies, remember that getting one of them from the anemone will hurt. The clowns are built for it, not us.
