Conflict-Ponyboy vs. Socs
After Ponyboy and Johnny killed the soc, they had to go on the run. This affected Ponyboy very much. Ponyboy was not used to being away from his brothers or gang.: "I wish I was home, I thought absently, I wish I was home and still in bed" (64). This shows how Ponyboy has been regretting running away and wishes he was in the comfort of his own home.
Darry affects Ponyboy very much. Ponyboy has lost his parents, so his brothers and gang are all he has. Dally tries his best to take care of Ponyboy but is a bit harsh sometimes: "Darry wheeled around and slapped me so hard that it knocked me against the door" (50). This shows how Ponyboy is hurt by Darry and this affects him: "It was plain to me that Darry didn't want me around." (50).
The rivalry between the socs and the greasers directly affects Ponyboy. Ponyboy cannot roam free and be a normal teen: "Greasers can't walk alone too much or they'll get jumped" (2). The socs think of the greasers as outsiders and don't think they belong.
