  • You will know who I am when the time is right.
  • Was it your hair that I held on to during my time at in prison.
  • The Spilling Of The Wine
  • So refreshing.
  • How has it come to this?
  • Foulon Eats Grass
  • Who's eating grass now.
  • Long live the revolution.
  • No more relapses.
  • Lucie Manette learns that her father is alive and is brought to meet him. She ends up meeting him in the attic of a wine shop. He was driven insane by his time in the Bastille. He ends up mistaking Lucie for her mother and his wife. She witholds her true identity to him at the time.
  • The Burning of the Cobbler Tools
  • While delivering wine to Defarge's shop a barrel of wine drops and breaks. All of the people in the streets come do drink it off the streets. This is a great example of symbolism. The fact that people are crowding to drink wine off the streets shows how poor France is at the time. It also helps foreshadow the revolution that is to come.
  • Stryver Declare His Love
  • Carton, I think I shall marry Lucie
  • The Defarge's are following through with the revolution. They kill one of the people in the monarchy named Foulon. Foulon previously said all peasants should eat grass. This is why thet put grass in Foulon's mouth. This shows how much the revolution has grown.
  • Darnay Turns Down His Riches
  • What would you like my nephew?
  • Dr. Manette has a relapse while Lucie is on her honeymoon. With the help of Manette Lorry concludes that it would be best to burn the tools from his past. With hopeful thinking they burn Manette's cobbler tools. This prevents any other relapses. This is because he became a cobbler in the Bastille.
  • This is for the good of everyone.
  • Stryver decides he s in love with Lucie. He tells Carton that he will definately going to marry her. A depressed Carton becomes even more sadder because he also likes Lucie. Stryver seems really certain he will marry Lucie even if he has not asked yet. What he does not know is Lucie is already engaged to Darnay.
  • Are you sure about that.
  • Darnay comes to talk to his uncle. It turns out Darnay's family is apart of the monarchy. Darnay knows that his family has done terrible thing, and is being targeted by the revolutionaries. He decides he wamts out of his family and the will. He wants to live a normal life
  • Uncle, I am leaving the family.
