In the beginning of primary succession, the glacier retreats and lava flow leave behind nothing.Rocks are the only things that remain from this as the start of the pioneer stages.
But,as time goes by small, minuscule shreds of life begin to grow.As the ecosystem begins to regrow from nothing.
During this stage, tiny plants and lichen grow. But,they grow at an slow, but annual rate.
As the pioneer stage ends, the land slowly becomes more vibrant. This also makes way for a multitude of grass and perennials to grow to add on to the increasing greenery.
As the pioneer stage ends, the intermediate phase initiates. With this a diverse selection of plants such as shrubs,shade-intolerant trees, and an increasing growth in grass.
A climax community finally comes to be after the intermediate stage is completed. Now,the forest is fully-grown and riddled and filled with life and various organisms from hundreds of years of development.
