Storyboard Text

  • It really is hard to believe that a canyon could have formed from this desolate land.
  • The river erosion is starting to take shape, it is breaking down the sand.
  • You might not know it, but this canyon was most likely formed from river erosion. It started as a desolate and rural area, but it transformed into a big canyon.
  • The mounds are beginning to form, yet another stage complete towards a canyon.
  • As you can see, the river erosion is getting wider, causing the sand to erode away.
  • First of all, about 1,000,000 years ago, there was a very desolate area, there was no life. This was the very start of the canyon.
  • Wow, it is really hard to believe that this canyon has gone through a lot of river erosion, I wonder what it will look like at present day?
  • As you can see, the mounds have now changed over time into rock.
  • Now then, about 500,000 years ago, the water or river erosion started to break down the land and started to create mounds of sand.
  • I hope you guys learned something, here is a quick summary, the canyon started as a desolate land, it went through river erosion and it ended up forming the canyon.
  • After that, about 450,000 years ago, The river erosion has gotten even bigger than it was before. Also, the mounds are starting to take their place.
  • Almost there, at about 1,000 years ago, the mounds have turned themselves into rocks. Now our canyon is almost complete.
  • Well you see Adam, the canyon stopped forming from that last slide but know, people just like you can visit it anytime, so the next time you see a canyon, think about how it was formed and what it looks like now.
