Suddenly, there was a caw and a scarlet ibis struck the tree. He had traveled so far to die there.
I'm going to bury him.
We went to the water to teach Doodle to swim, but lightning and rain scared him. He slipped in the mud, we both knew he failed.
All of a sudden, a tree burst in a fiery explosion. I ran as fast as I could, leaving Doodle in the distance.
Brother, don't leave me! Brother! Brother...
The rain subsided to a dull drizzle and I went back for Doodle. I found him huddled underneath a tree.
Come on Doodle, let's go.
I turned him around to see his blood soaked body. I sat there forever, sheltering my fallen Ibis.
