  • Think Before You Act
  • The theme of this story of the Monsters are due on maple street is to think before you act. In the story they show many examples of when the neighbors of maple street immediately start assuming and doing things without thinking before acting. One example was when Les Goodman's car went on all of a sudden and the people started assuming that he was the alien because his car turned on and they din't stop and think of other possibilities. The second example was when they started accusing Steve because his wife started saying that he spent nights in the basement working on a radio and there they didn't stop and think that it was a normal radio and Steve wasn't talking to someone. Finally in the third example when all of the neighbors were outside and they saw a figure heading towards them which was Pete Van Horn, then Charlie took out a gun and shot and killed Pete. There he didn't stop and think that the person might have been Pete and took action thinking it was an alien.
