When Americans sailed the seas they were often captured by pirates. England paid the pirates to not attack their ships, but America didn't want to pay for this! They took their chances and sometimes were captured and became slaves for the pirates.
After the Native Americans gave the settlers land, the settlers (Americans) tried to steal more land.
Thomas Jefferson passed the Embargo act ending international trade and causing an economic upset for the North.
The future Presidents will have to deal with these issues from the past.
