Storyboard Text

  • Last night was fun! Text me when you're free!
  • It was! And I will. See you later.
  • Two months later...
  • I'm not really sure. I've been having flu-like symptoms for more than two months, right after I met this guy at a party.
  • So, what's wrong?
  • I see. You are probably infected with the human immunodeficiency virus, also known as HIV. It is a disease that destroys CD4+ cells, which are critical to the immune system. HIV is spread in certain body fluids, such as blood or semen.
  • Okay. So, what can I do now?
  • You are going to have to take an antiviral to control the infection and to make sure that you don't develop AIDS.
  • Okay. I will take the antiviral every day, then. Thank you.
  • Well, there isn't a vaccine for HIV yet, but scientists are working on it. And, unfortunately, the antiviral will not cure you. However, the treatment keeps the amount of HIV in blood at very low levels.
  • I wish I had gotten the vaccine for it. Will taking the antiviral cure me?
  • Thanks for coming. You will have to come at least once a month. If you start developing symptoms like weight loss, fever or night sweats, fatigue, and recurrent infections, come here as soon as possible.
  • I will. Thank you for your help!
