  • Louis XVI was the last Bourbon king of France. He supported the American Colonists, but in return made France poor. He was an incompetent king, and thought the revolution would slowly fade, but it escalated and he was executed because he was against revolution.
  • Reign of Terror
  • Find the enemies and end them.
  • 1778 brought great disaster to France's food supply. A horrid winter began and devastated crop life. The year following, France became broke, so they raised the price of bread, leading to starvation and bread riots.
  • Rise of Napoleon
  • Haha! I have outwitted many who have came my way. Now I have the power!
  • Louis XVI approved a new constitution that would leave him with little power. In August 1792, him and his wife were imprisoned due to treason, and the monarchy was abolished in September. Next year, they were executed by guillotine.
  • Battle of Waterloo
  • On September 5th, 1973, the revolutionary government decided that "terror" would be the order of the day. During the terror, people suspected to be enemies of the revolution, for example nobles, were to be executed.
  • Thanks to the French Revolution, equality was promoted throughout all of France. This meant low-ranking soldiers could prosper and rise to the top, which is what Napoleon did. He was recognized for his skill and garnered popularity.
  • This was Napoleon's final war and inevitable defeat. He had lead France to various successes and expanded it's domination through Europe. In this battle, he brought 72,000 men and 33,000 of them were killed. It is said that Napoleon rode away from the battle in tears, and the Duke of Wellington took over France.
