Storyboard Text

  • Hi! I'm Regina the rock! I am about to go through some major changes as I travel through the rock cycle.
  • I have been underground inside of this volcano for a really long time now. Finally, I have come up from the ground as melted magma, now that I am on Earth's surface, I have cooled and I am an igneous rock.
  • A huge storm has come causing me to be weathered , and torn up into tiny pieces called sediments!! I am all broken up into different size pieces of rock.
  • As I am pieces of small rock, mud, shells, and other things, I am slowly getting compacted and forming a new type of rock called a sedimentry rock.
  • The last kind of rock I can become is a metamorphic rock. Before I become this type of rock I have to be deep underground the Earth's surface where is is very hot so I can melt a little bit.
  • The last step to make me into a metamorphic rock is compaction and pressure. The heat and pressure from above will flatten me out and eventually make up enough layers so that I can become one big rock. Then geologists will use a tool to dig me up from underground and then the rock cycle will start all over again.
