Hanfeizi was born in 279 B.C.E. He was going to create Legalism as we know it.
Hanfeizi did not like the teachings of the philosopher Xunzi, and he sought to make his voice and idea heard.
Confucianism is great, blah blah blah..
He believed that people were naturally evil and needed harsh laws and punishments to keep thing intact.
In his book he wrote that a kingdom needs a strong ruler who didn't need to show empathy.
During this time the Qin Empire was in power. They read the book and adopted the beliefs.
Legalism is great and shall be the only philosophy, blah, blah, blah...
In fact, anything that wasn't written about Legalism was burnt under the emperor's orders.
The people were not happy with the way that things were being run. Eventually, the death of the first emperor of China and the dislike of Legalism would lead to the fall of the Qin Dynasty. Floods and draughts would follow, but the final nail in the coffin would be the death of the emperor's son.
RIP, my son.
After the Qin Empire Confucianism was adopted by the like of the people. Legalism had become a thing of the past.
That's ridiculous! We shall use my method! Confucianism
