  • Check the source:New profiles and few followers should create doubt.Look at past postings: Are they consistent in content?Use search engine to search for headline and date to see if other sources have reported on the incident.Pictures and videos:Check for features confirming the place where it was supposedly made.Search engines offer a reversed search option to see where the picture has been used before.Websites:Sometimes fake websites appear in the design of a known media sources but add hyphens or a different ending like .net to the URL.
