- Oh,this is great news!I feel happy. I'll be with Evan and He'll make everything easier.He will introduce me to all those fourth -graders.We will have fun in school together like at home!
- This is so unfair!I feel so angry and humiliated. All of my friends will make fun of me!

- Jessie, according to this letter you have skipped to fourth grade! Congratulations!Evan, you and Jessie are going to be in the same class this year.

- In the basement, Jessie finds Evan laying on his back and throwing the baseball up in a straight line and catching it.She feels that there is something wrong with Evan.

- If I can run the lemonade stand better that Evan, maybe I can prove that I am not a baby and I am talented enough for being a fourth-grader like him. He will understand that I am not going to embrass him.Then he will appreciate me and he will play with me again.
- Jessie wants to just about anything to get Evan back to the way he was before the letter.She looks everywhere and eventually she finds Evan and Scott Spencer in the garage.But she feels disappointed due to the answers of Evan.Evan doesn't have any money and he needs Scott to run his lemonade stand to earn some money because he wants to buy an ipod with his earnings.

- I don't like bets but if I can not beat my baby sister, if I can not win against her in this war,Megan Moriarty will think I am just some stupid loser and this school year will be bad and annoying.
- Why'd you do it?You are the one who was mean.Let's make a bet.Whoever earns a hundred dollars wins,the loser has to give all their earnimgs to the winner.We'll start with today's earning and it's got to be from selling lemonade.Whoever makes the closest to a hundred wins.Even if we both make over a hundred,whoever makes the most money wins the bet.We will count up the money Sunday night.Right before the fireworks.Huh?Whaddya say?

- Jessie wants to show Evan that she can sell lemonade,too.Just as good as him and Scott.She knows she needs a partner who is a fourth-grade girl to show she can fit in with the fourth-graders.She doesnt't want to embarrass him.So she chooses someone as a partner who seems nice to Evan.Although they are so different from each other, she chooses Megan Moriarty.
- Yeah.,I'm his sister.Hey,Megan!Do you want to sell lemonade with me?We could have a lemonade stand.It'll be fun, come on!I 've got three cans of lemonade and my lock box.We can make a lot of money.
- When Evan and Scott starts the stand, most of their business comes from a particular direction. But after an hour, not one person who walks past them from that direction buys a cup. When Evan walks through Jessie's stand, he can't believe that Jessie sneers at him and gives him a humiliating smile with the money in her hand. He thinks Megan laughes at him,too.
- Nah,c'mon,Scott.You're gonna drink all our profits if you do that.Just chill.Hey,here comes our first customer.
- I can't believe,Jessie is earning more!I feel ashamed!
- I'm thirsty!Well,I'm gonna chill by having another cup!
- After the dinner at Treskis', when Jessie clears and scrapes the dishes and Evan washes and stacks, there is a very big and loud argument explodes between them.
- Why'd you do it?Huh?You're such a showoff.You are a little kid.You don't even belong in the fourth grade.OK!It's a bet.A hundred bucks by Sunday Night.Winner takes all.You better pray for mercy.
