  • Exposition- introduce the characters, setting, and background information
  • Rising action- introduce conflict
  • rising action- conflict is still developing
  • A long time ago when the world was new, a beautiful Goddess named Selene always put the moon in the sky and made it light up. She had a sister named Eos who was there to make the dawn and dusk.
  • Rising action- conflict still develops
  • One night when she was done polishing the moon, she realized she didn't like how the moon was positioned, so she tried fixing it. This perticular night, Eos was helping her polish the moon.
  • Climax- turning point
  • "Maybe I should make it a little bit higher" Selene said, trying to size it. "There!" Selene exclaimed. "Eos, can you watch the Moon until I get back? It is not fully dark and I have to drive my chariot for night to come." Selene asked. "Sure." Eos responded. "Thank you," Selene fumbled with her rope, "don't put one hand on it, okay?" "Yeah, yeah, ok." Eos sarcastically said and rolled her eyes.
  • Resolution- Conflict resloved
  • "Now that SHE is gone, I can finally do what I've been wanting to do for years." Eos exclaims. Eos reaches out her arms to hold the moon. At first, she is very gentle with it, but after a while she experiments on the moon to see if it breaks.
  • After the fifth time bouncing it, she thinks, maybe I should stop bouncing the moon. It might break the moon, and my relationship with my sister. But it slips out of her arms and shatters into pieces. Soon after this, Selene comes back to where Eos is and cries. "I KNEW I SHOULD'NT HAVE TRUSTED YOU!! NOW THE MOON IS BROKEN AND IT CAN'T BE FIXED!!" Selene screams at Eos. "I'm sorry, sister." Eos sorrowly says. "Let us see what the Gods think." Selene seriously says.
  • After 18 hours of climbing, Selene and Eos meet Mt. Olympus. Selene drags her sister and herself to Zeus. "Your majesty," Selene cries, "we accidentally broke the moon in pieces." "Why- how did that happen?" Zeus calmly says. "Eos was playing with the moo while I was gone, and now it broke. Do you know how we can fix it?" "I'm sorry, but unfortunately we cannot fix it." Zeus replies. "But at first when we saw the broken moon, Athene thought this was a piece of art. I think you should keep it the way it is. The time is now for change." Zeus explains. "Wow. I never really thought about it like that. Thank you so much, Zeus!" Selene exclaims. Now, you can see Selene's "new" moons in the sky at nighttime.
