  • Now we can't trade!
  • You will fight for US!
  • British Blockade: Americans could no longer import (or export) to British blocking their ports.
  • Impressment: British sailors were taking the American ships and sailors. They would force American sailors to fight for them.
  • Burning of the White House: British captured Washington D.C. They then burned the White House. James and Dolley Madison escaped. Dolley Madison was able to save the painting of George Washington.
  • Battle of New Orleans: Andrew Jackson became a national war hero. Unfortunately, the U.S's greatest victory came after. The Treaty of Ghent (peace treaty) was signed ending the war.
  • Patriotism: A sense of Patriotism spread throughout the United States. The U.S. was seen as a world power.
