Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Little late today, folks.
  • Rising Action
  • Take your time, son.
  •  Don't be nervous, Jack.
  • Climax
  • "You didn't give him enough time to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn't fair!
  • Mrs. Hutchinson arrives late to the lottery, where the towns people wait to draw from the box. Mr. Summers, the activities curator, stands in from the black box that holds the papers to pull. 
  • Falling Action
  • The townsfolk begin picking their pieces of paper, and a multitude of them show nervous behaviour. The head of the family pick the paper, and do not look down if they won or not. 
  • Resolution 
  • The Hutchinson family finds who wins the lottery by giving each family member a ticket. Mrs. Hutchinson is the winner, and she is horrified. because being the winner means being stoned to death. 
  • Literary Term: Irony
  • The people begin picking rocks from the pile, and throwing them at Mrs. Hutchinson.
  • She is stoned to death by all the townsfolk because she was the one who received the prize of  the lottery which is stoning. 
  • Irony is when the Opposition of what you expected happens, such as the protagonist falling off the bus then exclaiming how good his day is. 
  • Fantastic way to start my day!
