  • IN 1607, the settlers of Jamestown where going through a "Starving Time"
  • Social
  • King James the 1st couldn't make quick decisions for the colony, so Jamestown had to make a representative government.  
  • Polictical
  • In 1612, a settler named John Rolfe began growing a new type of cash crop called Tobacco using seed from the West Indies.
  • Economical
  • I am Pocahontas  ,   daughter of  the Chief  of the Powhatans
  • The location   of Jamestown  was on a peninsula  made it easier to defend , But  the land was swampy and the drinking water impure.  And the swamp bred disease carrying mosquitoes.  But had  fertile soil. 
  • Geography
  • -   I think it was surprising that Jamestown was a  success because they went through so much in  the years  that they've tried , and the population loss during the winters.  It was  ruff. 
  • Why is it surprising that Jamestown was a success?
