The carbon atom starts as fossil fuels being burned in a factory
The carbon atoms turn into carbon dioxide and go into the air
trees absorb carbon dioxide and their carbon dioxide filled leaves fall to the ground.
Other animals eat the carbon dioxide filled leaves as part of their daily diet
When that animal dies for whatever reason the carbon dioxide inside of it will transfer itself into the ground
Over millions of years the carbon dioxide in the ground will turn into diamonds, coal or fossil fuels
