This is Lara Jean Covey. She is the main character and protagonist of the novel. She is very close to her sisters and dad. She falls in love very easily but is always left heartbroken. So, she writes all her feelings and thoughts about the boys she loved in letters.
This is Kitty Covey. She is Lara Jean’s sister. She is the antagonist of the novel. She is nice and caring but can get stubborn and mean at times. She is close to her sisters too and sees Margot as a mother figure. She used to have a crush on Josh, who was her older sister Margot’s boyfriend.
Kitty is scared Lara Jean might have revealed her secret to Josh. So, to teach her a lesson Kitty mails Lara Jeans personal love letters to the respective boys. She hopes that this causes some trouble so that Lara Jean doesn’t talk to Josh.
Peter Kavinsky is one of the boys Lara Jean write a letter to. He receives the letter and decides to confront Lara Jean about it. He tells her that he has to feelings in his heart for her. At first, Lara Jean is confused but then she realizes that Peter was referring to the letter she wrote in 7th grade. She wonders who must have sent out the letter.
Josh gets a letter too and decides to confront Lara Jean. Lara Jean sees him approaching her and gets scared because it would be really weird to tell your sisters ex boyfriend that you used to have a crush on them. She sees Peter there and kisses him to show Josh that she has moved on and loves someone else now.
I think that as Lara Jean and Peter act like they are a couple in front of Josh, they might actually fall in love and start dating. Lara Jean might see how supportive Peter was and that maybe he deserves a chance to be her boyfriend.
