It is 1793, and Matilda lives in her moms coffee shop in Philidalphia. They also have a worker named Eliza. Her free slave, and best friend Polly just died of a random fever. This sort of tells Matilda that something serious is going around.
I will fight for you Grandfather!!
Then later, mother got really sick, and was showing bad symptoms. Then, Matilda and Grandfather had to go to Bush hills, very far away.
When they were at bush hill, Matilda fell ill, and got Yellow Fever, but recovered quickly in a sick house.
NEVER GIVE UP!
After she recovered, they went back to Philidalphia. When they were in their old house, some robbers came in and were trying to steal. But, Matilda got a sword and scared them off. However, they hit Grandfather, and strangled him to death.
Now, Matilda was all alone, but found her worker Eliza. Then a week after frost came and ended the fever. But it took a couple of days for mother to return. It was a happy ending.
I think the theme of Fever 1793, is to never give up. Matilda kept pushing through all the sickness, and even fell ill, but she kept moving. Plus, it was a happy ending for her, accept for losing her Grandfather.
