Go in and get a sandwich coach Hill.

This scene is showing an example of segregation. Vernon Johns is being told that he has to go through the back of the bus. This also shows how the Jim Crow laws affected blacks. This made blacks take a literacy test and they were forced to pay poll taxes. They also had the grandfather clauses.
This scene shows Vernon's church. After the 13 amendment, slavery was abolished and many people wanted to pray after that. Shortly, the Ku Klux Klan burned down his cross.
This was when Coach Hill was asked to eat in a white restaurant. He was a freedmen. This was an example of the Jim crow laws that occurred after reconstruction. The workers were very lenient because every glass he touched, the shattered it.
