  • Introduction of Montag
  • "It's fine work. Monday burn Millay, Wednesday Whitman, Friday Faulkner, burn em to ashes, the burn the ashes" (Bradbury 6).
  • Montag Influenced by Clarisse
  • "Rain even tastes good" (Bradbury 19).
  • Montag Grows Sick
  • "Every fireman, sooner or later, hits this. They only need understanding to know how the wheels run. Need to know the history of our profession" (Bradbury 51).
  • Montag is motivated and determined to burn books. Montag describes to Clarisse what firemen do. Montag must burn every book he comes into contact with. Clarisse wonders why firemen are starting fires instead of putting them out.
  • Montag Becomes a Student
  • I don't know hat you're talking about" (Bradbury 71).
  • Montag questions himself. Montag begins to wonder what books truly mean. Clarisse gives Montag a new look on life. He take his new outlook and tries to help a woman while burning her books.
  • Montag Rebels
  • Beatty, he thought, you're not a problem now. You always said don't face a problem burn it. Well,now I've done both. Goodbye, Captain" (bradbury 115).
  • Montag is worried and confused. Montag fakes a sickness after he steals a book. Beatty comes to talk to Montag after he doesn't show up for work.Beatty explains to Montag how books are bad, but he still has his doubts.
  • Montag Finds Fulfillment
  • "He floated on his back when the valise filled and sank; the river was mild and leisurely, going away from the people who ate shadows for breakfast and seam for lunch and vapors for supper" (Bradbury 133-134).
  • Montag is eager and inspirit. Montag is seeking knowledge from Faber. He wants to know the thruth about books, and he realizes only Faber can help him.
  • "How many copies of the Bible are left in this country" (Bradbury 71).
  • Montag is fed up and careless. As the firemen pull up to Montags home he is in shock. Montag is worried they're going to burn his house down. Montag is infuriated that they didn't give him a chance to explain so he kills Beatty.
  • Montag is rebellious and not worried. Montag flees from society into the outer world. He decides he wants nothing to do with society. He was on the run but now it's time to rebuild society.
