Storyboard Text

  • Panama makes us want to move to Canada!
  • Period:6
  • Panama Panama was originally settled by Spanish settlers in the sixteenth century, and was a part of the Colombian Empire. Panama's population is 3,800,644 people. Panama is located on the peninsyla stretching from North and South America, in between Colombia and Costa Rica. The language most commonly spoken is Spanish.
  • only one in four people in panama get internet access. this is bad because in america,  a county very close to panama has over 245 million internet users. (that is over two thirds of the population!) Having no internet access is bad because without it it is harder to do regular things. for example: Researching things,  buying things (some people do not have stores near them), or even comunication. (it would be a lot harder to talk to people from your home.
  • Push factor#1
  • The national income per capita for Panama is a little as 3,034.00 per year! Trinidad and Tobago, a county very near to panama has an income of over twice that! ($6,137.31) and the island of Barbados, (also in central America) has an income of more than three times Panama's income! ($9,742.62) this is bad because without much national income, the government cannot fund programs such as: Feeding the poor, homeless shelters, or even hospitals. This results in less available medical care, and more people on the streets in poverty.

  • Push factor #2
  • One in ten people in Panama will have an income of less than $1 per day!  Chile, a country just across the peninsula in South America, has as little as .2 out of ten people in poverty of less than $1 per day. With an income of less than 1$ per day you can barely afford any food at all, let alone bills for a house. Most people with this type of poverty either live on the streets, or live in a tiny hut like this. And if you have a family it makes things a lot worse.
  • Push factor#3
  • There is no doubt that Panama is not a great Country to migrate to.  The amount of people in Panama without internet access is over 3/4 of the population. The number of people in poverty of an income of less than 1$ per day is over 380,064 people. And the national income per year is little more than 3,000 dollars. some people in other countries make that much every month.
