Hello my name is Jeff. I'm not sure what is wrong with me I don't look like the rest of my friends sometimes I don't feel like the horse that I am.
Well Jeff get on the table for me and ill take a look at you.
Well Jeff I have bad and good news. bad news you are not a horse, but the good news is I will tell you what you are and teach you what yourself.
What's up Doc?
Ohh... Okay Doc.
But don't feel sad you are still part of the horse family. Here are some similarities...
Dr.Colt was curious on why there was a donkey in his waiting room, but he decided to treat him anyways. Dr.Colt explains to Jeff that he is a donkey. Jeff seemed confused so Dr.Colt decided to start off by telling him 5 fun facts about Donkeys. to ease the confusion.
1.Donkeys have excellent memory. 2.A Donkey will never get involved in an activity if it considers it to be unsafe. 3.Donkeys are by nature herd animals. 4.Donkeys are originally from desert areas of Middle East and Africa. 5.Donkeys are capable of independent thinking.
Really! that all is very instersting could you also tell me about the evolution of donkeys?
Yes of course I can and actually the evolution of horses and donkeys are the same.
Dr.Colt said "We both have a 1.diaphram which is our major role in breathing. We both have a 2.cecum means when we change our diets we have to do so slowly so the bacteria in the cecum can adapt. Also we have 3.molars for chewing our food. We both have 4.sudoriferous glands and 5.sebaceous glands those cause us to produce sweat and oil.
Before you leave I would like to tell you about some advantages.
Jeff said "so what is my original habitat?" Dr.Colt says " The habitat of wild donkeys are found in deserts and savannas in northern Africa and in the Middle East. Domesticated donkeys, on the other hand, are found all over the world. All donkeys prefer dry, warm areas.”
Donkeys, zebras and horses all evolved from a common ancestor from about 4 to 4.5 million years ago. They have not changed much over the years. Which means donkeys are evolving more slowly than expected.
Most donkeys have a smooth coat in varying shades of gray or fawn; however, some breeds have different coats, such as the Poitou, which has a dark, shaggy coat. Donkeys are not easily startled. A donkey is stronger than a horse of the same size.
