  • Welcome to Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is a city in Asia-sumer that is located in between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers.
  • This means that lots of problems arose such as lack of space, rain, and materials. Thankfully we were able to move to the rolling foothills of Zargos and fix these problems
  • Mesopotamia is located on flat land, which means that there is not many natural protection resources or materials.
  • A big problem with the rivers is that when it rained they would overflow onto the crops which caused them to drown.
  • To solve these problems, the Mesopotamians made walls out of hardened clay and dirt to make sure the water did not flood its banks. They also built canals to make sure only a little water was in the fields
  • The levees in the field often got clogged up by suilt. The farmers and men of Sumer gather in small villages to help unclog these levees. This helped the villages and nations become closer and less likely to attack each other.
  • But, because as the nations and villages came together, they stated to fight over who got more water.
  • Villages downstream would build canals to try and keep as much water as possible on their end of the river
  • Despite its flaws, Mesopotamia and Sumer are great places to live that are thriving in our modern age.
  • With help from our great inventions like the levees, and perseverance that helped us get to better land, Mesopotamia is doing great on the path for the future.
