  • Hello, My name is Mendel and I am the father of all genetics
  • Genetics is the study of how traits are passed from parents to offspring.
  • I study genetics by doing controlled breeding experiments with pea pants.  I used peas because they grow quickly, easily absorb traits, and I can control which plants reproduce.
  • A two breeding plant with wrinkled seeds self pollinate and appear consistently after every generation.
  • Pollination occurs when plant's pollen lands on the pistil of a flower or when pollen from one plant reaches another.
  • Cross pollination occurs with the rain, wind, or any other type of weather.
  • My results were that the first generation  crosses, there is a cross between purple flowers that produced purple flower, while spring and purple sprinb made purple.
  • My conclusions were that the first generation will always cross. A cross between purple flowers produced purple flowers and white spring and purple spring made more purpe flowers
  • A genetic factor that blocks another genetic factor is called a dominant trait. A genetic factor is blocked by the pressure of a dominant factor is called a recessive trait.
  • My ideas have lead many others after me to major discoveries about Genetics. The second generation and their parents will ALWAYS have genes from both parents.
  • Wait! Can you repeat all of that please?
