This is a monkey's paw. It grants three wishes of your choice. But I'm warning you, it's dangerous.
The scene starts on a dark, rainy night in the White household. Father and son playing chess, son appears to win, father not paying attention. Mother is in the other room, listening to the father.
We're going to be rich!
In scene two there's a knock at the door, informing the father that his guest has arrived. Father walks to the door, letting the new character in. Learning that the man is a Sergeant.
Scene three starts with the Sergeant telling the family stories about a wishing object, called the monkey's paw. Frightening the Whites but also interesting them.
The family decided on wishing for 200 pounds, which Herbert, the son, suggested. Little did they know, that came with a price. The White's were excited that they were going to be richer than many others.
The next day, a man from the company Herbert works at, informs Mr. White and Mrs. White that their son is badly hurt, but in no pain. The company pays them 200 pounds trying to help them, Herbert eventually dies.
Mrs. White urges Mr. White to wish their son alive again, but Mr. White wishes him dead right after he starts to come back. THE END
