The Flinch family (Scout, Jem, and Atticus) live in Maycomb , Alabama in the 1930's duing the Great Depression, which is a time of racism. Atticus, the father is a well knon lawyer.
Characters- Atticus: Respected lawyer in town Jem and Scout- Atticus's kids Cal- The Finch's family maid/ housekeeper Tom- Black man Atticus is defending
Conflict/ Rising Action- Tom Robinson is wrongfully accused of raping a white woman. Atticus is defending him which is looked down upon from the whole town because Atticus (a white man) is defending a black man.
After court, Tom is found guilty. Atticus's kids were shocked about how they could send an innocent man to the electric chair.
The theme of the story is to not judge people based on their appearance. To Kill a Mockingbird shows how bad it was during the Great Depression. Black people have the same amount of rights as white people.
