Pecos Bill was the cowboy. He was the best and all the other cowboys were copies of him. He had only been thrown off once and because of that he created the rodeo. Here's how it goes...
I've got you now!
Bill and a few other cowboys were telling each other about their wild rides, but Pecos Bill had a pretty good feeling they were lies. Then an unusual change of weather happened. The sky turned yellow and the wind picked up.
What's happening? Is the tornado making a canyon?
It was a TORNADO!!! "Round up the herd. Oh and if you don't mind, I am gonna take a little ride of my own," said Pecos Bill. The cowboys with Bill rounded up the herd and started to head back.
The tornado was so strong it tore up prairie grasses and trees. Pecos Bill and the tornado left Texas, and crossed into New Mexico. Then the pair entered Arizona, but Bill never left his seat.
They were almost in Nevada, when Bill sensed that the storm was losing power. The storm had already made the canyon (that folks today call the Grand Canyon).
With the rest of its strength, the tornado flung Pecos Bill all the way to California into a desert. He landed with a mighty wallop. Once he caught his breath,he noticed he had made an enormous crater. "If someone made a fall like that ," he told himself, "they would have died." (That is probably why nowadays people call it Death Valley.) And with that Pecos Bill created the rodeo.
