  •     The theme of The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Is very clear to find. For the theme is fear and suspicion are destructive forces. Three evidences are the following: The residents made a mob out of suspicion, Charlie shot Pete out of fear, and the residents were so scared that they tried to kill each other.      First off,  when Les' car started by itself, everybody became suspicious. So suspicious that they made a mob against Les GoodMan, whom they've known for five years.     Second of all, Charlie was frightened by the situation that they were in, and so when Tommy yelled that the shadowy figure walking towards them was the alien, he fired his gun. But it was not until they checked the identity of the dead being that they found the figure was actually Pete Van Horn.     Lastly, in the end every one was scared of the unknown and suspicious of their own neighbors. They all decided to resort to violence and find as many weapons to kill each other and to protect themselves.      All in all, it was interesting and simple to discover that the theme was fear and suspicion are destructive forces.
