Storyboard Text

  • This is Joe. Joe is an Astronaut. He is also an astrophysicist.
  • Right now, Joe is staying at the International Space Station with other astronauts so that he can study asteroids and other bodies that move through space.
  • Today, Joe is going outside of the space station to collect samples from a nearby traveling rock. He's actually on his way to the Space Station's door right now!
  • Joe was almost out the door before he realized he forgot his space suit! So he took a detour to the suit room and now he is going to get dressed before leaving.
  • Joe's suit gives him oxygen while he's in space where there is no gravity or air. His suit will keep him alive long enough to get the samples he needs from the rock.
  • Now that Joe has his suit on, he can finally get his rock samples while being safe in space. If Joe keeps up the good work, he might even find life in space!
  • Not only does Joe wear his space suit to stay safe, but he also wears his seatbelt. Because he knows that according to the CDC, more than half of teens and adults who died in crashes in 2016 were not buckled up at the time of the crash.
  • Joe knows that if he gets injured in a car crash, he won't be able to go back to the Space Station. Joe reminds everyone to wear a seatbelt and stay safe so that they have a future too.
