"You think you're too good for us just because you have a high school education and a job!"
How did you do that!
In the beginning of this story, the main character, Junior, is listening to an argument between his father and his uncle. His uncle feels like Juniors father thinks of himself as better for wanting to move away and into the city. Papa Claims he just wants to be closer to work but later they all realize that it was so Junior could have a better education.
Denver and your little boy should get together and go to a movie sometime.
This scene is when Junior fights with Chango, the leader of a gang, at recess. When they square up to fight, Chango charges and Junior flips him over his leg and Chango lands on the ground on his butt. This impresses the gang so much that they invite him to join.
He's an Albino Indian!
Shortly after joining the gang, Junior gets a new neighbor, an okie, who he immediately takes a disliking to. He calls in the gang to help him beat the boy up thinking that it'll be like a Cisco Kid vs. John Wayne movie. They corner him on a street and beat him up
Junior realizes that Denver didn't tell his mom about the attack and thinks that it was pretty cool of him to do that. When he realizes this he make a decision to be nicer to Denver and to start getting him to fit in with the gang.
Junior takes Denver to the movies and before they get there, the gang comes into the scene. Junior has a plan to get Denver in the gang, he lies and call Denver an Albino Indian. Chango and the rest of the gang accept him. then during the movie they have a feast of candy that was bought from the 10 cents that were Denver's before he was allowed to join them.
At the end of the story, we realize this was all a flashback on Juniors life and that all of the boys from the gang were great friends but they eventually grew apart.
