On the old Shiloh schoolhouse, Marty claims she spots a very quiet dog, maybe one or two years old, looks guilty, but acts like a great companion. Also as any other 11-year old, Marty decides to bring this worn out, appeared abused dog inside his home. Marty decides to name the dog ¨Shiloh."
As soon as Marty brings Shiloh dog inside after weeks of secretly nurturing him, her parents are both very much against keeping it because they say she will not be able to take care of it. They assume he belongs to Judd Travers (the owner of may other dogs, working almost as his slaves) Unfortunately, that same night Dad and Marty take poor Shiloh back to his cruel, no good/harmful ¨owner,¨ Judd . Marty is now determined tocome up with new plans left and right.
One late afternoon after dark, Marty tries to forget about the harmful conditions Shiloh is in. Suddenly, she hears Shiloh crying that night, and Marty puts her foot down, saying I can not stand anymore. Marty runs away with Shiloh in secret as possible away from Judd as she tries to take care of him any way she can. Marty tied Shiloh on a tree with fresh food and water without anyone's consent. And ever since then Marty made it her daily mission to take suns with Shiloh through the meadow at night!
One sunny afternoon, Mrs. Preston and Judd continue to ask the whereabouts of Shiloh, but Marty lies saying she has not seen him and her family find out. Unfortunately, as Marty is going to see her cousin that just came back from Tennessee, she runs into Judd and gets a ride from him. Although, Marty was acting extremely suspicious, yet Marty still maintains his innocence.
Little did Marty and her parents know, Judd starts to hunt on their land for animals, specifically dogs. Although Marty doesn’t let that stop her! The amount of time and happiness Marty and Shiloh spend together is unimaginable, like they can not bare without each other, and can not separate them.
Unfortunately, Ma soon founds out that Marty had Shiloh for a week! Ma was furious because she not only lied to her, Judd, but also God too. Although, Ma agrees to keep it a secret (even from dad) and turns out to be very sympathetic for Marty and Shiloh´ś relationship.
