  • Harriet Beecher Stowe spent 18 years Living by the Ohio River, bordering a slave state & Town
  • After Her encounters with fugitive slaves, she learned how bad the south was
  • Time passed and after all of the stories she heard about the south combined with her own trips to the south, she wrote a book on the true evils of slavery
  • Once the book was published, it reached many people in the north and it angered them to hear the stories about how bad slavery was
  • ...And it also angered the south because it was against their beliefs
  • While this Book didn't directly cause the civil war, it fanned the flames of hatred between the north and south and began to anger people, this made succession a key issue with heated debates erupting all over the United States of America
