One day, Dave finally got to build his own store. This was one of his biggest dreams and he got started right away.
Dave went to all the stores and got all the supplies he needed. This job was taking up a lot of his time, so he decided he wouldn't as much in one day, but would still work everyday.
Dave was upset though, because all of his other friends who had started to build stores got finished right away, but he wasn't done.
Dave slowly but surely built his store. He was very persistent with his work and he got done what he needed too.
On the day that the store opened, one of Daves friends who were visiting his store asked him why he was upset. Dave told him that all of his friends built their stores quicker than he did, and his friend said "Well little strokes, fell great oaks."
Dave was confused by what his friend meant. His friend clarified by saying that it means when you take things 1 step at a time can accomplish great things. This made Dave feel better and he understood what the proverb meant and spent the rest of the night celebrating!
