You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.
Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden?'
We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, "You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die."
You will surely not die. For God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be like God, knowing good and evil.
The Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden. He had placed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. God had only one condition; to not eat from the tree.
Try it!
One day satan came disguised as a serpent, asking Eve if she was allowed to eat the fruit from the trees in the garden.
Where are you?
Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
Eve had told the serpent that God had said to not eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but the serpent led her into temptation by saying she would be like God if she did.
I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.
Because of her desire for gaining wisdom, she believed the serpent and ate it. Eve also offered some to Adam, and he ate it as well.
The eyes of both of them were then opened, and they heard the sound of the Lord God entering the garden. Not knowing they had sinned, Adam and Eve felt ashamed and tried to hide from God.
Adam and Eve both blamed each other for their sin of temptation. God was disappointed in them, and punished them both. He then banished them from the garden of Eden.
