- On a warm summer afternoon in Cartagena, Columbia, Captain Torres, visits a barber shop for a shave and to test the barber's loyalty.
- He sits on the barber chair and tells the barber that he wants his beard shaved. The barber recognizes Captain Torres as a revolutionary, and his enemy.
- The barber was very nervous. During the time he was sharping the razor he thought about slitting Captain Torres' throat.
- The barber did not want to be like Captain Torres and did not slit the captain's throat. Captain Torres, after he was shaved admits that he was there to test the barber, to see if he was going to kill him.
- Captain Torres still has doubts about the barber.
