  • The Punic Wars 264-146 BC
  • The Romans won this war because of this tactic. They also converted naval warfare into mini land battles, which they were very good at.
  • First Punic War 264- 241
  • We Romans will never surrender! 
  • We have equipped ships with huge hooks that will reel in your ships and take them over
  • How? You barely have any ships!
  • Imminently after the war, Carthage occupied a number of Punic cities in North Africa and Sardina and did so successfully. Rome used this as an excuse to conquer the islands of the central Mediterranean. 
  • Second Punic War 218- 201
  • We are going to take over your cities!
  • We will see about that
  • You would never! We have an amazing army
  • Rome used the Fabian strategy to win. They were unable to defeat Hannibal in Italy but sailed across the Medderteranian to defeat North Africa. They were led by a patrician general and forced to leave Italy to protect Cathage.

  • Third Punic War 149-146
  • Rome declares war against Carthage, who is defenseless. They win easily and sell the entire population into slavery and take everything valuable back to Rome. He burns and dumps everything else into the sea, and dumps salt on ground so nothing will grow ever again.
