Storyboard Text

  • Wait, Cherry would actually do that?
  • Cherry is our spy on the inside, she feels like it's her fault. Why are you looking at me like that, your eyes are as wide as saucers!
  • I feel like I put Pony in this position and I think that I need to turn myself in.
  • Oh, blast it, Johnny-he pushed his white-blond hair back out of his eyes- you get hardened in jail. I don't want that to happen to you. Like it happened to me...
  • Darry has a new personality that we have never seen and neither have any of the other Greasers.  it is so unusual for Darry to act this way.
  •   Darry really does have a soft side.
  • Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are talking about what is happening in town. Dally says that Cherry feels bad and like it is her fault for the town's conflict that has created a war between the Socs and Greasers. Cherry has been a spy for the Greasers and roguishly told them what the Socs are planning to do, this will help the Greasers tremendously.
  • Crack!
  • Dally was talking about home and Johnny tells him that he thinks that he will turn himself in for murdering Bob being it is putting a burden on the people who support him and who he cares about. Dally is apprehensive about letting Johnny turn himself in because he has been in jail himself and understand how rough they are on you.
  • We started it. We started it We started it!
  • Ponyboy and Johnny are realizing that they are the first people to see this new side of Dally. This makes Johnny and Ponyboy come to the realization that Darry is not all tough and mean like he is portrayed to be.
  • I'm sorry, Darry
  • You had me so worried Ponyboy, I thought we lost you like Mom and Dad.
  • Johnny and Ponyboy see as they are going up the large hill that the large and smoking flames that could be detrimental to the building and small innocent children inside the old and well-maintained church. They run up to the group of scared children and nervous teachers to ask if they can help Jerry, one of the teachers on the picnic can't find some of the children.
  • Ponyboy and Johnny think that they are the cause for this which causes them to go into the burning church. The fire was as hot as the sun on a warm and sunny day.  Ponyboy and Johnny went through the broken window awaiting children with terror painted on their face.  Ponyboy and Johnny were considered heroes for going into the fire to save the children and being selfless.
  • However, Johnny and Ponyboy are both injured from this accident. Ponyboy wakes up in an ambulance with Jerry the teacher he was talking to earlier on. He said thank you to Ponyboy and Johnny multiple times even though they were hoods. Ponyboy sees the rest of the gang at the hospital including Soda and Darry.  Darry expresses his worry for Ponyboy and Ponyboy now understands that Darry is hard on him because he loves him.
